The Booked Job

No. 001

Every Tuesday morning

What changed this week in the systems that make your phone ring.

One email, Tuesday morning. Google, your software, your reviews, your phone: what changed and what it costs you.

Free: The Google Business Profile Checklist.

Nine settings in twenty minutes, with a way to check that each one worked.

Here is one item from issue 001, as it reads in the email.

The one profile setting most shops get wrong, according to 1.8 million profiles.

A study of 1.8 million Google Business Profiles found that businesses with a specific primary category (“HVAC contractor,” not “Contractor”; “Drain cleaning service,” not “Plumber”) and a fully filled-out profile rank higher in the map. It’s a correlation, not a confirmed Google rule, but it’s the cheapest map-pack experiment you can run.

Verdict: act. Open your profile, check the primary category, add every secondary category you actually do. Ten minutes.
